Again as always in a
"Driftless Zone" Adventure
Race, You do not have any of this
looping around BS where the checkpoints are all close to each
other.
Not in the Driftless Zone! A Looping course In my opinion is a LAME
race
and un interesting course made by a race director with little
imagination. Looping makes a race very easy for us to put
together, and manage, but this type of race is NOT for me, or for all
of you!
In a "Driftless Zone" Adventure Race You'll see one area, and never see
it again throughout the race!

Swimming
There
will be
many river water crossings. Of all styles too. From just plain MUD, to
swampy
areas, to small creeks and streams. Even maybe a large river or two may
be in your journey. Pay CLOSE attention to the flotation needs!
Biking
This
year we finally
have some off road biking for you all. Something that
was lacking in
years past. What kind,, and or how long, or hard, you'll
have to wait till you get there.
As always in the "Driftless Zone", The exact route taken is
TOTALLY up to you! There will
be some
sections where you may choose to ride on paved or dirt roads. There may
be some vehicle traffic. Some light to none, and then it could be quite
heavy and fast. During these sections follow road biking rules.
Use
hand signals and travel in single file with traffic on the side of the
road or on the shoulder. The
trails
are still gone. And the route you choose to take is still totally up to
you. Again, when
in areas
of the course that a trail does exist, try to use it. All trails
are voluntary*, and you can take them if you wish, or if you think you
have
a better route, you are free to take it. Best part is,
you better have your thinking caps on. And be good
with
maps to figure your best route.

Ropes Area - Rappelling,
AKA "Ropes
Section"
As
usual we HAVE to have a Rope section of the course right?
Well, how about a totally NEW one! Like our old stomping
grounds at three Castles, this is also on Private property and
has never been used in a race before! For those
of you afraid of heights, not to worry. We have in the course a By-Pass
constructed for those that choose not to do the rappel, but yet want to
stay in the race. But be warned! The By-Pass WILL take longer than the
Ropes Section and you will surely loose a lot of time taking it.
Running, Trekking, and for a
lot
of you Walking!
The
on foot
course is very similar to last years course. Again we are glad to say,
THE TRAILS ARE STILL GONE!
One minute
you could be walking along a nice deer trail, or even an old deserted
gravel
road, and ten minutes from now you may be bushwhacking through an
overgrown
swamp or dense woods!

Canoeing,
Kayaking, (paddling)
Again
you will
be allowed to use your own Canoe or Kayak.
Or Use one of the rentals.
If you choose to go the rental route, be
sure
to
reserve yours early. They only have a limited supply, and they are
reserved
on a first come first reserved basis on teams that enter and have all
fee's
paid in full.
We have a new Canoe outfitter this year. He is
a LOT more busy as rentals go for the general public. So again don't
wait till the last minute to register and not have a Canoe.
?
And of course gotta have Some sort of a Mystery
Event,
What, You Won't Know Till You Get There!
